Snow in the Face! 2005
by Calla Talman (used to be Pavlidis)
During the end the fall semester of my freshman year, we got a really great snow storm. I say it was really great because it was the kind that caused a delay in morning classes and was enough to play in! So, a few friends and I bundled up in what snow gear we had with us (read: none!) and headed over to Iler Field for some fun in the snow. We made snowmen, sled down the “hill” directly behind D-hall, and of course had a snowball fight. Well, during said snowball fight, I somehow got pelted in the face not once, but TWICE in a row! My friend G (Giancarlo but most knew him by G) said, “Calla! Think fast!” and as I turned around, a snowball smacked me right in the upper part of my face. Forehead, eyes and nose! We laughed hard, and then immediately after, our other friend Big D (Dave, but again, most knew him as Big D) said the same thing. This time, of course I was sure I would catch it! But naturally that didn’t happen and this snowball smacked me in the lower part of my face: nose (again), mouth and chin! At this point my face was so frozen and in a little pain but it was just so funny that both times were accidents and both times they hit my face! We just fell to the ground in a fit of laughter! Those two really made my freshman year so wonderful and I will always remember those adventures!
